Ubogidi / Ozalla Community Hospital

Background History

Once by divine providence and determination I found myself in Dallas Texas, USA in 1996 as a nurse and son of my parents Sir Samuel and Lady Fidelia Asadu of Ozalla village in Edem ani, Nsukka LGA of Enugu state . When my wife and I had our first child Nicole Chinweokwu Asadu aka Biggee I promised my village of Ozalla people that I will continue to pay for the hospital bill of anyone who told me or my parents that they are in the hospital or sick from the money I am earning as a Nurse in the United States of America. This promise I kept for 19 good years. On November 22nd 2018, a friend and mentor who was seen to be very rich and successful died. I saw how helpless he was on the hospital bed despite all his riches and success. When I cried home, I quickly called my wife and my four children and I related my experience to them. There and then a voice said to me “why not build and equip a 20-bed Hospital and give your people and your Town of Edem-Ani and its surroundings free hospital services so your people will always remember you now that you still alive”? My family gave me their support and I immediately told my parents and my siblings and they said to me “if that will make you happy, go ahead and do it”. I called the village and told them that I am giving back the parcel of land meant for me to build a palace so we can build a hospital that will serve the people. I then bought an airplane ticket and came back home to start the project.

Continued Background and History

On December 8, 2018 the foundation stone was laid and work began in earnest. A Board of Trustees was inaugurated in October 2019. The hospital was by the special grace of God equipped with modern equipment. Medical officers and other staffs were recruited and test running of the hospital was done.

On December 27th 2019, the hospital was opened and handed over to the Community with the Board of Trustees chaired by Prof (Chief) Felix C Asogwa. The commissioning ceremony was done by our lovely Governor RT Hon Ifeanyichukwu Ugwuanyi ably represented by the Honorable Secretary to the State Government Prof Simon Ortuanya among other stakeholders and dignitaries.

To the glory of God my wife and all children were there at the commissioning ceremony including my parents, siblings and friends. I used all the money I and my company earned in 2018 ending and 2019 to foot the huge expenses. I did not solicit for help from anybody but from God. The hospital provides free medical services to all patients that attend it. However voluntary donations as anyone may deem fit is accepted.
